SPH at the Australian Dressage Championships

The 2015 Saddleworld Australian Dressage Championships were held over 5 days in October at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. SPH Sonata Hit was the only Saffron Performance Horse to attend the event and competed in the FEI Prix St Georges and FEI Intermediate I.

The first two days of competition were less than ideal with intermittent rain putting a dampener on the event, lucky for SPH Sonata Hit and rider Rodney Martin the FEI Prix St Georges class was held in the indoor arena on the second day. Despite the weather Sonata Hit performed beautifully and was awarded a total score of 68.947% to be placed second, only 1.343% off the top score of 70.290% from Longvue Florencio ridden by Brett Parbrey. Competition was fierce with only 3.974% between first and tenth place!

The third day of competition had a few hiccups in the FEI Intermediate I class. SPH Sonata Hit performed well but a little mistake brought him down to 11th place with a score of 65.368%. Having rained so much the previous two days the dressage arenas were waterlogged in parts although every attempt to drain the arenas were taken.

The Australian Dressage Championships is the last competition for the year, now it is time to look forward to foal season!

Thank you for following our journey this year very much looking forward to an even better year for 2016.
